Re: More Muffler Chatter
Hi 2LZ, I'll add a couple of thoughts to your post. Back when I was slalom racing my '64 Monza, I built my own engines and developed the best sounding exhaust system ever heard. I did have tube headers but you can also use stock exhaust manifolds. It was basicely a dual system with as long pair of g...

Steve Goodman
I found an announcement on the other forum that Steve Goodman is celebrating 57 years in the Corvair business. There isn't a nicer gentleman that this fellow. Send him a thank you message.

Re: Question about using a tow bar
Hi Gasman, I have flat towed Corvairs all over the west coast, when I was slalom racing my '64 monza convert. I towed it with a Rampside w/4 speeds,& sometimes with a Ford Ranchero V8. The main difference between your method & mine was that I bolted the tow bar directly to the body of the ca...

rear engine grill
I have a perfect '64 style grill. It was in the front trunk when I got my 62 Monza & was still in the GM packaging. ( I believe its a genuine NOS grill ) I have a correct '62 grill that I will be using so the '64 one is for sale. I'll take offers until the end of the month.(March 31) I'll post o...

which transaxle oil to use
My Corvair friend & I have a disagreement about which a 4 speed trans axle should use. ( '61 /'65) I say it should be 80 /90 wt gear oil. He says we need Penzoil Synchromesh manual tramsmission fluid.because it supposedly does not corrode the brass synchros like the regular oil does. The bottle ...

Re: Lack of "Chevrolet" emblems
One of the 3 Rampsides I had didn't have the word Chevrolet on the tailgate. But it DID have the word " T R U C K" on it. In large, block chrome letters. It got a lot of smilies & comments too.

Re: EM wheel change
I found a set of 14" X 7" wire wheels ( Tru Spoke ) that came off a 240 Z. They came with the correct bolts & locks and "knock off" caps. They fit my '62 Monza convert with 4 mounting holes & look great on it.

Re: Can you flat tow a manusl trans Corvair
Back in the 1870's, when I was slalom racing my '64 4 spd convert, I flat towed it all over the state of California. My tow bar simply bolted to the original bumper mounting holes. Corvairs track behind a tow car / truck ( mine was a Rampside) very nicely. Hard to back up though.

Re: Does Anyone Care About Racing?
Hi Ken, I have always enjoyed your input here on the forum(s). I look up to you as one of the most knowledgeble folks that are around. I was a pretty serious slalom racer back in the 70's with my '64 Monza convert. I still have a half dozen 1st & 2nd place trophies in my office. I still really e...
