I would love to visit but a 6 hour drive one way takes the fun out of it. I'm in Phoenix.

....the only old i have sitting around is a 1970 buick 455 (way to powerfull) Too powerful? When is more horsepower a bad thing. He-he. Good luck on the project. I'm sure I'll see you around and maybe even hit you up for some ideas when I rebuild one of the Toro V-8s that has some issues to be impr...

Re: New Here From AZ
Did you get the Craig's List car near 101-Freeway and Baseline Rd. (with A/C) or the one out in Gilbert with the engine removed? Just curious. Welcome to the group. I'm still old school with period engines in my Corvairs. Two Toro V-8 s and one stock Corsa 140. Do you plan to hang out with the local...

Re: Daily Driven
... how many other owners out there actually drive these cars on a daily basis? I drive my 66 V-8 anytime it's not raining (not often in Phoenix) and when my passenger doesn't mind that it's loud and proud. In a few more weeks (100+ temps and no A/C) I'll be favoring a "normal" car or sti...

Re: VanMans '63 Corvan (Sancho)
I cant dim the dash lights since Ive swapped to led's, they must use so little power it cant even drop it low enough, oh well, a little less amp draw. The old dimmer is not effective since the amp draw is below the design level of the reostat range. You can adapt a PWM dimmer to your circuit as tha...

Let's See Some Vanity (Plates)
Okay. For fun let's see all your Corvair vanity or "year-of-issue" tags. Rules. 1. A photo is required. 2. The plates must be real tags issued for motor vehicle use (current registration or expired is okay). 3. Must be displayed on a Corvair or Corvair-powered vehicle. 4. You should explai...

Re: Interior LED Lighting
I had a friend help me build the controller. It uses a PIC micro controller as a master addressing two more as slaves. The controller has 22 PWM channels that can be fully manipulated from 1-100% duty-cycle. I can run through the lighting routine choices manually using a RF remote or by activating a...

Re: Well, the truck sold.
All you have to do is submit a Sold Notice (done online in AZ) and you are safe but you still want the plates back to apply to a new vehicle or get a refund on the registration balance.

Re: 1st and mabe last
Looks great but these kind of details and photos should be in the V6-V8 section so others can find the info later. I never ran across this thread until today because I usually look in the V6-V8 section or at thread titles. This thread title gives no clue that there is a beautiful V8 hidden inside. G...

Re: ever have your Corvair mistaken for something else?
A previous owner of my 66 Corsa "de-badged" the entire car so there are no external clues other than the little Chevy bowties on my rally wheels. Last night a neighbor in his 350Z stopped by my house and asked me if my car was an early Corvette. He wanted to see the motor and walked to the...

Re: LED Exterior Lighting
Anyone using LED tailights and turn signals or any other accent lighting in LED? Still testing tail lights on LMs...may offer as a kit in the future. These are NOT some cheap PNP bulbs from ebay. In the vids these LEDs are running at about half power and easily outshine OEM 1156 and 1157 bulbs. The...

Re: Interior LED Lighting
Has anyone done interior LED lighting on their Vairs? I've done quite a bit inside my V8 but I'm not ready to reveal until the whole package is properly done (dome, courtesy left & right, center console courtesy front & rear, console shift indicator, center storage compartment, glovebox). I...

Re: Hold on to your lugnuts its tiiiime for an overhaul!
Details of how i pulled this off are to follow. Little bit of daring fab work, sure. but you *can* get massive rollers under a 'vair if you are really determined to do so. Tony, Some of us are still following this thread wondering when you will post real details and not just "teaser" pics...
