How's this "global warming" working out for you guys? It's 39 deg. right now down in the Houston area and has been below freezing a couple of times this past week. I see it's way colder up north. Just think how cold you'd be if we didn't have this pesky global warming driving the temperature up so high. Oh, Is that the sky falling or was it just somebody "crying wolf" just to get their face on TV or to force a political opinion? PLEASE!

I'm not a scientist but logic dictates that a single weather event cannot define the overall climate.

If so, then one could assume that since Phoenix just had the highest average summer temperatures ever recorded in 120 years that global warming must be real, right? Wrong. Even the best scientist would be laughed at if they came to that conclusion.

Arm Chair Climatologists on both sides like to pick out individual weather events that suit their case. I'm smart enough to know that I don't have the expertise to draw conclusions either way.

I have Lived in the high desert of Ca for 51 years, I have lived thru Drought, El nino Rain, Heat, Cold ,3 month consecutive 100+ temps and snow storms! This Summer was hot and cold and one of the cooler summers I can remember,,as far as I can tell with my 51 years of High Desert weather experience,,EVERYTHING IS NORMAL! Every year like clock work it rains on or around Halloween, it rained on Halloween night this year,like it always has, Its raining here right now with more expected Friday, NORMAL!

Years Ago we were going into a deep Freeze,,so Give the Gov your money to Save us,,Then We are having Global warming,,so the Gov wants your money to Save us,,now its Climate change!! = Normal weather! Now the Military has told soldiers to Refer to WEATHER as "Climate adjustment" ITS ALL A LEFT WING FEAR MONGERING SCAM! Rule through FEAR! Now Scientist Agree its all a scam!

Please go back and read my post slowly with an open mind. I did not take either side. My application of basic logic to the argument indicates that I have not "sampled the Kool-Aid" as you say.

Neither side can draw a conclusion about global warming based upon a single event or even a full season. These threads begin each time there is a hot or cold day in the news as if that one weather event has ended the debate.

First off, it is very important to address the fact that Earth is not the only planet to be experiencing climate change in our solar system currently. NASA has also been observing massive storms on Saturn, which indicate a climate change occurring on that planet as well. NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope has also been recording massive climate changes on Neptune’s largest moon, Triton. Triton, whose surface was once made up of frozen nitrogen, is now turning into gas. The Associated Press has reported that satellites that measure the temperature of sunlight have been recording an increase in the sun’s temperature, meaning that the sun itself is warming up. Even the London Telegraph reported in 2004 that global warming was due to the sun being hotter than it has ever been in the past 1,000 years. They cited this information from research conducted by German and Swiss scientists who claim that it is increasing radiation from the sun that is resulting in our current climate change.

Nigel Calder, the former editor of New Scientist, wrote an article in the UK Sunday Times, in which he stated, “When politicians and journalists declare that the science of global warming is settled, they show a regrettable ignorance about how science works.” He further stated that, “Twenty years ago, climate research became politicized in favor of one particular hypothesis”. If you seriously think all the smog from cars, power plants, and other sources do not have a negative impact on the environment then there is something wrong with you. You say CO2 is good for the planet but this is not necessarily true. We are putting out way more CO2 than plant life can keep up with and it all has to go somewhere.

Yes Dave I did read what you wrote. I'm not left wing or right wing, that mindset is the reason why we have problems. Everyone thinks one side or the other is correct when the reality is neither side is always right. You are willing to believe that spewing exhaust gasses doesn't cause any harm. Now, I'm not one of those nutty environmentalists but I'm all for trying to reduce emissions. I can't afford to get an efficient new car so I have the next best thing, a classic that gets decent gas mileage and I plan on getting better mpgs with a little work. If you don't believe in man made global warming...then start your car up...let it run for about 10 min and then grab the exhaust manifold....for you non believers don't worry...there is NO heat coming off them going into the atmosphere...walk on some asphalt barefooted this summer about 3 pm...don't worry...its okay...no warming. Right now if you are heating your house...don't fret about the bill...it is all staying confined in your house...none of it goes out of the house into the atmosphere. The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consulafft, at Bergen , Norway

Reports from fishermen, seal hunters, and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes.

Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared.

Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds. Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coastal cities uninhabitable.

I never said that exhaust wasn't toxic because we all know it is. But it has never been proven to cause global warming. If you're so worried about reducing emissions and heat then you better stop driving your corvair or any car for that matter, electrics included. Stop buying any item at the store because it takes oil to produce it and ship it. Stop heating your home. You think that heat out of your furnace just goes away? Nope. Better stop farting and breathing while you're at it too.
