Hulkster...Something Completely Different

Post by Phil Dally »

1963 STD Corvan that came from Santa Barbara horde.

At least two other people owned it since Santa Barbara.

Bagged front and rear with a 4-linked Ford 9" rear axle.

Plan is mid-engine Cummins 4bt diesel with big car P/G.

We have the Cummins to GM bread truck adapter plate.

The blue piece in ADE 6bt Cummins streamliner picture.

Again for full disclosure...this would be project #436+

No regrets...I don't care how many unfinished projects.

I leave my four year old grandson...he digs his Corvairs.

Cool! If you want to use a better transmission, I have 4BT to TH400 adapter, bell housing, etc.

Those little diesels have gone though the roof cost wise.

C/L ad is close to me and he has used farm replacements.

OK, Cummins is in my back yard (Columbus, In.) but I never did learn Cumminses. What's a 4BT normally used in, so I have a frame of reference? Love what's been done so far!

Cummins 4bt were used extensively in farming equipment, forklifts, and stationary applications.

4bt engine swaps into Jeeps, Scouts, and lots of other 4X4 vehicles is currently a booming trend.

Only production vehicle I've ever heard of with a 4bt is the aforementioned step van bread truck.

I'm sure there are numerous commercial vehicle applications that used the 4bt as a power source.

4bt's are same as 6bt (Dodge pickup through 1997) like 4.3 V6 same as 350 SBC...two less cylinders.

Also not to be confused with 4qsb which is same but electronically controlled injector pump...YUK!!
