Smokin' Deals!
I thought if anyone finds some good deals that they can't "move on"......post 'em here so we fellow 'vair maniacs CAN snatch them up!
I am reluctantly posting this ad from the Orange County Craigslist for a '66 Corsa 140 up here in Hesperia. I went to look at it, but I came to the conclusion that there's no way I can drag this thing home. It currently has been sitting outside since 1980 (last tagged in 80, but supposedly has been "non-opped") currently has a 110 H.P. motor in it, but the original 140 is included. The guy told me that the 140 out in the shed is freshly rebuilt, but I'm pretty skeptical......it has a fair amount of greasy crud buildup on the outside of it. ALSO INCLUDED are a pair of extra 140 heads, a center 4-barrel setup (no carb) and the original Corsa hubcaps. It's $1500 for the whole shebang....the body is almost perfectly straight and I didn't see any rust other than surface rust. The windshield may have had some, but it only looked like surface to me. Oh yeah......an extra Corsa dash is included. This thing is pretty sun-beat, but......seems like a good deal that I'd move on in a heartbeat if I could.....BTW, it's a red on red car.

Re: Smokin' Deals!
Sounds interesting. Great idea on the thread BTW.
Hopefully someone will make that car into something special soon.

Re: Smokin' Deals!
I am surprised that with all the club members that live up that way, no one has seen or heard about this car. It sounds like a great deal if it's rust free with a (new????) 140hp to go with it.
Re: Smokin' Deals!
Why must I be so tempted. I don't need another one, but I want another one!

Re: Smokin' Deals!
I think that's the guy I bought my '62 Rampside from. His name is Michael Saylor and he has quite a few LMs and lots of parts. I saw some of it when I was there but didn't reall check it out. I'm more of an FC kind of guy.
Re: Smokin' Deals!
I'm going to go look at the red/red '66 Corsa Monday.

Re: Smokin' Deals!
My wife is great. BUT it's probably not the best use of money right now. I should be putting the money into my 65 to fix a few things. I'm still going to go look at it and take pictures though. I will be very tempted to buy it if the body is in better shape than My 65. Maybe then I could sell the 65 to build the 66?
That is if, I could sell the 65. I'm kinda attached to it. Love it

Re: Smokin' Deals!
Just looked at it. I think I may buy it.
Looks like the worst of it is below the windshield, but the carpets were wet. Ground was wet too so I couldn't get underneath it to look. I felt around and everything feels solid.

Re: Smokin' Deals!
It ain't bad, huh Scott? As I mentioned, I'm a tad skeptical if that thing's rebuilt or not. Check out the external crud buildup on the outside of the block down right there near the cam gears. I tried to peer into the cylinders thru the spark plug holes, but couldn't quite see too much, although I could've sworn I saw some "not too pretty" cylinder walls. I could very well be wrong though. All in all, I think it's a good buy especially with the extra 140 heads. He couldn't seem to find the 140 exhaust manifolds but said he was pretty sure he could dig them up.
There's a whole lotta extra parts in that container that are included I'll bet! I wish I could get it, but.....naw.....not right now. I do love red interior cars though, big time! And that car seems pretty well untouched which is also appealing. Hope you get it, dude!
