this one is dead, its had a very hard front end smash (you can see the car with the roof cut off in one of the other ebay adverts)
shame as it looked very solid
the people who are selling it are well known for 'imaginative prices for the parts on ebay though.......

They are asking 5,000 pounds for it which is about $6,482 US dollars. Good luck with that! Ha

Re: dead fitch in uk
This is so sad. The discovery and restoration by a talented guy in Canada was the subject of a 20-page Corvair Center thread 5-years ago. This was the only Sprint 4-door and it was well documented. Kyle (guy in Canada) found it in a wrecking yard and was going to buy the 140 out of it. When he discovered its history and rarity (and high level of interest in the Corvair community) he undertook its painstaking restoration. (extensive, extensive, rust repair in addition to the regular tasks of a restoration. What a waste. The car was sold to the UK owner through "Bring a Trailer". I suspect its demise had something to do with a LHD vehicle in a RHD country. I hope the driver and passenger survived the crash.
Here's Kyles restoration thread:

Here's the BAT listing along with pictures of it in the '70's And... How it looks now. :-(

I spoke with the [UK] owner on facebook messenger today.
This is what he said;
"Hi thanks for your concern, yes we survived...just, I was driving round a bend when a guy travelling to fast and on our side hit the rear end of our car and caused us to spin out of control into another car. I got away with broken leg, hand, and ribs with a few cuts etc but my fiancée was much worse, she needed 29 days in hospital and she's had 3 operations but 7 months on we are getting back to normal, my two daughters were in the back seat but thankfully it's seems kids just bounce and they are very well with only the mental scars to get over which I'm sure they will. I never got to see the car after the accident and it's been removed by the insurance company from the storage unit where it was taken after the crash. I'd really appreciate if you could send me any pics you have or tell me where you've seen it so I can have a look. Dam shame about the car we all loved it and even the police said that the car was well restored and held together well considering the impact."
