Corvair Anniversary Car Show -Oct 6th, Phoenix AZ Metro Area

Post by azdave »

In October each year since in 2009, the Cactus Corvair Club has celebrated the 50th anniversary of another model year Corvair being introduced.

Corvairs officially went on sale in October of 1959 so 50 years later in October of 2009 we especially encouraged owners of any 1960 Corvairs to attend our show at Thorobred Chevrolet in Chandler. All Corvair related vehicles were welcomed but we gave special attention to the 1960 models because they were official 50 years old.

This year will be our 4th Annual Corvair Anniversary show at Thorobred Chevrolet and we will feature the 1963 models that officially become 50 years old this fall. As before, all Corvair related vehicles are welcome to attend the show but we will will feature any 1963 models that attend. As in past years, we will have a food drive to benefit a local charity. You are encouraged to bring non-perishable food goods in lieu of paying an entry fee. Cash donations of any amount are also accepted for the charity. During the event we will award many door prizes and have a People’s Choice award.

We'll have coffee and donuts in the morning and pizza delivered for lunch. Be sure to bring a chair and sunsceeen. We expect participants from as far away as Tuscon to attend. We want to see this event filled with Corvairs. This includes daily drivers as well as show cars. We enjoy seeing them all as long as you can get them to the show safely!

I should have my V8 and my 65 sedan at the show. What are you bringing?

We now have a Yenko Stinger scheduled to attend this show as well as a Wayne 100 Corvair-powered ski boat! Way cool.

The show is just two weeks away now. Please join us if you are in the area.

We have added additional awards this year for "Longest Distance Driven to the Show in a Corvair", "Most Unusual Corvair" and "Highest Mileage Total".
