I bought my 1965 Monza convertible last year, and I couldn’t help but notice it had (still has) a faded San Diego Corvair Club sticker on the windshield. The owner told me it spent most of it’s life in the San Diego/La Jolla area, and this sticker further proved this (so did the rust in the rockers!). My question is, how many Corvairs survived abroad? San Diego is within driving distance of the US-Mexico border, it isn’t far fetched at all that some ‘Vairs live on in Mexico, and I know a small shipment of ‘60 Corvairs were sent to Cuba before the revolution (3 survive, all with motors in the front, powered by Russian or tractor engines). Where have all the foreign Corvairs gone, are they still around?
P.S., I’ve read posts about American servicemen shipping their Corvairs to across the Atlantic while stationed in Germany, wonder if there were other Corvairs on the autobahn?

Re: Corvairs Abroad
I shipped one to Germany in 1971 and drove it there for three years . Occasionally I would see another Corvair , maybe 4 or 5 in the three years I was there . We had a junk yard on post where there were some Vairs , mostly 65 and later , I think there was one or two early automatics . I don't remember seeing any early standards . I drove mine into France and Luxembourg and don't recall seeing any Corvairs over that direction .
There was a 1966 Corsa on the post where I was . The owner made me a deal on it I could not pass up , so I owned two for a time . Wish I had shipped that back but was too expensive along with the logistics of driving two Corvairs to my next duty station . So the 66 may still be over there somewhere .

Jesse in Inglewood. - Do you belong to the SCC club in Torrance? Great club and many knowledgeable folks. They have a show coming up Sept. 7th at the ADM in El Segundo.
Corvairs were built in parts of Europe. Some in Switzerland. The desirable LM front clear turn signal lenses were made for the Corvairs sold in Europe.
I recall there is an active Corvair club in Germany.
