Greenbrier Windshield

Post by Whittling Joe »

Good morning,

My son and I are fixing up a 1964 Greenbrier van. We had been working all spring in the back to get the great beast running. A couple weeks ago we got it to fire up and moved it to the front yard. We were stoked! Unfortunately, a tree limb fell onto the windshield two days after we moved it forward and just shattered it. All the glass had been intact.

My question is, are all years and FC corvair models windshields interchangeable?

Thanks,

Joe

:welcome2:  Welcome, Joe, to the Corvair Forum! Sorry to hear of your misfortune and bad luck with that tree branch destroying your windshield on your Greenbrier.
:banghead:

You could try contacting the Corvair Ranch in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. They have a very large inventory of used Corvair parts. They can confirm fit and availability for a replacement windshield. As far as I can tell from the Chevrolet Corvair Parts Catalog, the windshield part number was the same for all 1961-1965 Forward Control (FC) Corvair vans and trucks.

Yes. They are all the same size and will interchange.

Caution:
Many FC owners prefer NOT to use a top-shaded windshield because with the high seating position in the truck, drivers tend to always be looking out the boundary area between the clear and the shaded portions and some don't like that distraction.

Thank you both for your replies.

I found a couple windshields locally and I am going to get one this saturday. I will let ya'll know how it turns out.

There is a Corvair club here in the Knoxville area. I have already received a little help with a wiring issue from them and an offer to sync the carbs for me soon. Dusty and I will be joining the club very soon.
