Tried to publish in the 'Shows' forum, but did not have ability...

Thanks for the pics...always nice to see any older car saved and running and being enjoyed. However a Corvair isn't an orphan...the parent company still exists....lol.

Wikipedia wrote:ORPHAN

An orphan is a child whose parents are dead or have abandoned them permanently.
:chevy: I had the impression that Chevrolet abandoned the 10 year old Corvair in 1969 — after several years of increasing neglect. :sad5:

Given that explanation there are many cars that are orphans. They no longer make my beloved Chevy Novas. Just saying...lol.

Does Chevrolet still sell parts for the Chevy Nova?

Actually it does. I have a parts man at a Chevy dealership that says to always check with him before buying aftermarket. I purchased some small clips for 5 cents apiece through him that a Nova supplier wanted a buck apiece for. He also said most likely there is some stuff he can still get for the Corvair.

I believe that Corvair suppliers like Clark's cleaned out most of the NOS GM Corvair-specific inventory decades ago. If there is anything left it might fall into the category of interior trim items, distributor components, perhaps brake components, etc. that were adopted for use in LM Corvairs and were common-ground between the Corvair and some other cars in the GM lineup. But generally the Corvair became thought of as the "black sheep" in the GM "family", and over time was abandoned and orphaned by General Motors (although there is still evidence of the relationship in some Chevrolet museums). :chevy:

Brad...you say potato I say potahto...it's all good. Just a different way of looking at things. My wife drives a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix which she loves and since Pontiac is no longer around then it's an orphan, although GM still supports the car. And Chevrolet no longer makes the Monte Carlo so our 2007 model could also be considered an orphan. Hard to imagine of the 6 vehicles we own 5 would be orphans. Only my '04 Silverado has a parent!
