Corvair sunroof?
I am assuming no corvair was made with a sunroof because I have never seen one. Has anyone ever installed an aftermarket one?

If I ever have money for it, that would be number one body modification on my list. Love sunroofs.

I agree but I wouldn't even know where to start.
Re: Corvair sunroof?
I wouldn't either and it's definitely not something I can do on my own so unfortunately it'll probably not happen.

There are pop in units available where the glass can be popped up or taken out but I'd be afraid of the roof curvature and leaking. With my luck it would leak like a cheap straw hat. Maybe, maybe not. Supposed to be an easy install though. J.C. Whitney used to carry them.

I think the way vairynuts has it set up is the only way to go.
Re: Corvair sunroof?
No regular production Corvairs ever came with a sunroof. A few special built Corvairs were fitted with them by GM for shows or design studies. Many owners have installed their own of course. A few are undetectable from a OEM installs. Most are easily recognized as not being OEM.
I would never put a sunroof or moon roof in any of my cars and I try hard to avoid them when I'm looking for a used car. They add weight, leak water and a generally are a a PIA to maintain.
Here is one famous EM that was customized by GM for one of their executives.

Very nice Corsa, less than 15,000 miles on it, but a bit pricey! Of course, a car like that is pretty rare anywhere, and especially in Europe!
Asking Price: CHF 27400 (27,400 Swiss Francs) = $31,097.49

Re: Corvair sunroof?
Thought I’d revive this necro thread for anyone else considering installing a sunroof.
Here’s mine which I’ve owned for about three years. One of the two previous owners had it installed.

Re: Corvair sunroof?
Back in the late 60's and 70's American Sunroof began installing sunroofs in many new foreign cars for dealers. They also had contracts with Ford to install sunroofs in some new cars from the factory. Either electric or manual. Fit and finish were excellent.
They are still in business in San Diego, Calif.

Re: Corvair sunroof?
Three of our 4 Subarus have a sunroof. Other than mine having a problem with the motor (a "safety module"), they have been good and enjoyable. The two Foresters have HUGE panoramic sunroofs. Of course my Corvair being a convertible, sunroof is a moot point. If I'd had a hardtop, I wouldn't consider altering it. Dennis
