terribleted wrote:Really sucks when you strip one down after doing tons of work to find it is all smoke and mirrors and not really worth rebuilding. A better body like you chose is the best way to go. Sorry the first one was so bad. I have been there and done that more than once I am afraid, luckily such situations have never been on my dime ( I have been lucky with my personal projects).

You are headed toward having an exceptional Vair. Looking forward to seeing more excellent progress.

Ted I can picture you doing the "I told you so" dance thru my computer screen! :rolling: But you did tell me so.
Like I said (and as you know) it's remarkable how good you can make bad body work look!

Front suspension completed and back on the ground. I used the front lowering springs from Clarks'. Just have to remember to torque down the bushings and shocks once the car weight is on it...better make myself a note and tape it to the crossmember!

Original body off the rotisserie, now a "pasture car". Anybody need a boat anchor? Donor '64 body about to go on the rotisserie.

Steering boxes x3 disassembled today...should find enough good parts to make one good one! Bolted each to a 2x12 in the bench vice to make it easier to take apart.

The best of the bunch cleaned up and bead blasted. Painted the case today, clear coated the aluminum parts, drying as we speak!

Finished my steering box today. Also finished off my 180 turbo. Will start disassembling the engine next. I heard from my body guy and the body repairs and paint should be done by late Jan/early Feb!!! (tu):D(:P)X(
