Correct way to start my 65 corvair automatic

I'm ready to try to start my corvair. In the past I just pumped the gas and turned the key. Is there a correct way to start my car. I just installed new fuel pump and gas lines from firewall to carbs.

Success! My corvair started after 3 attempts. It's not idling smoothly, I'm changing plugs next. One of the carbs has gas stains on it, could this be part of problem? Any suggestions on where to go next, I don't have any(a lot) of experience with motors.
