Identifying Corvair 95 Emblems

Post by Vairamp »

Is there a difference between the 1961-62 and 63-64 CORVAIR 95 Door Emblems?

I believe the older ones just had a simple baseline underneath the letters & numbers. Newer had a wider baseline and painted red.

Is this correct?

If so, does anyone have the older type for sale?

THANKS!

There appears to be two "vairiations" of the Corvair 95 door logo, according to the 1960-1969 CORVAIR PARTS CATALOG. The illustration below refers to part 8.147 PLATE, and the associated listing indicates that the early version of the logo, labeled "CORVAIR 95", was used on 1961-1962 Corvairs, while the other version, labeled "CORVAIR 95 by Chevrolet", was used on 1963-1964 model years.

The parts catalog also shows a similar division in the Corvair Greenbrier door emblems, with "GREENBRIER" assigned to 1961-1962 model years, and "GREENBRIER by Chevrolet" assigned to 1963-1964 model years.

The Clark's Corvair Parts catalog page shown below would seem to confirm the year variations in the door logo. It shows only the early 1961-1962 Corvair 95 logo, with nothing listed for the 1963-1964 Corvair 95. However, it does show both versions of the Greenbrier logo for 1961-1962 and for 1963-1964 Greenbriers, plus a third version for 1965 Greenbriers only. (The Corvair 95 was discontinued after the 1964 model year)

So it seems in the photo that the 61-2 underline bar starts before the “C”. The emblem looks faded too. Did it originally have red paint on the underline bar and what is that paint “code”.

THANKS, I saw that in Clark’s. But all the caveats in the description is kinda odd. So I guess looking at the catalog photo, I was correct, it wasn’t painted in the 61-2.

The ones I have are painted and a bit pitted. After spending a fortune on body work and paint I don’t want stuff just slapped on beautiful work.

THANKS
