Re: Special part for sale on ebay
Happens all the time. There's LOTS of thermostats that fit the Corvair apparently.
Re: Special part for sale on ebay
Adding -fits to your ebay corvair search will filter out these and the thousands of other non corvair parts on there that are listed as fitting a corvair.

Yeah. Every time I see that I think to myself, someone somewhere is professionally trolling the Corvair community.

I did some extensive research and can verify that it will fit in the glovebox of my 64 Spyder.

Re: Special part for sale on ebay
Actually, the ad is sort of accurate......
All you need to do is install all the other needed components into your Corvair in order for it to "Fit" as advertised.
My old Kelmark conversion had one of those thermostat's in it an it worked out just fine.
I always enjoyed screwing with uneducated parts counter people when buying parts for my car.
I would go in and ask for a part that (at the time) was universal for virtually all small block Chevrolet motors like a distributor cap, points, rotor, or even a thermostat. These would have been items that any competent auto parts person would be able to pull from the shelves without needing to look it up.
When the uneducated incompetent moron would ask me "Uh, what kind of car is it in?" or something along those lines, I would respond that it is in a 1966 Chevrolet Corvair and watch them attempt to look it up. I would eventually give the "Expert" an application that their feeble mind could look up in order to look up the item I needed. Yes, it did get frustrating at times which is why I started screwing with them to begin with.
These days I often supply a valid part number for the "Expert" to begin with as the majority of them are not getting any brighter as time goes on.
Maybe I am getting less patient with auto parts people as I get older. Especially since I worked in the industry for many years and held an ASE Certification for Automotive Parts until I let it lapse a few years ago.

Re: Special part for sale on ebay
LOL I used to have a phone book listing for my business. The listing was Corvair Repair. Periodically a radiator shop would call Corvair Repair to try to sell me radiators for Corvairs:)

Re: Special part for sale on ebay
Same for air-cooled DAFs, there are radiator stop-leak products and the like on eBay and the like which apparently will work for my cars...
