In September of 1959 I was 10 years old and had just discovered AMT/SMP 1/25th scale plastic models. My very first model kit was that of a 1959 Buick which I totally butchered but I bought more and learned to build nice clean models. A 1960 Corvair was produced by AMT and I bought one as soon as my local "five and dime" (remember those?) put them on the shelf. I ended up buying a couple more before the year was done. One I cut the sedan top off and turned into a neat convertible and thought to myself Chevrolet is making a big mistake if they don't make one for real. I'm thinking GM owes me some sort of royalty or something, right? I never got that money but I do own a '63 convertible for real.

Old thread, I know. Speaking of plastic model kits, check out this AMT kit to build a 1/25 scale chrome Corvair and Chrysler engine. How old and/or rare is THIS? It's buried in their "auto replacement parts" section . :) Second thumbnail image on website is clear, first is not. https://www.walmart.com/ip/1-25-Chrysle ... k/50999757

Original EMPTY box for $30 shipped at https://www.ebay.com/itm/274352045992 Price was 69 cents. :)
