I Fought YouTube -- and Won ! Corvair Video

Post by UNSAFE »

My Youtube page is up to almost 700,000 views but when I checked out my page this morning I noticed that one of my hour long
vintage handling and stability videos was gone . :dontknow:

So I checked into it and the video was deleted because someone claimed that I had about a minute of copyrighted audio .

The audio in question was produced by me using Cyberlinks Magic Music royalty free option . They were claiming only one minute of a several minute track.

I protested to Youtube and within about an hour the video was back up and running .

I was very surprised but still wonder why it was deleted :dontknow: This video was posted over a year ago !

nice!!

I had a vid up of my son, Micheal Jackson was playing in the background (radio). Didn't even think about it. Got a warning from the record company that if I didn't take it down, a lawsuit was to follow.

I have one video on youtube with close to a 1/2 million views. It shows my custom LED tail lights I designed and built for my 98 Eclipse. It has a song by Aldo Nova featured in it but I guess whoever owns that song has an agreement with youtube to allow the use. Youtube inserts paid advertizing at the beginiing of my video so I would guess that is where the song owner gets their cut.

Yes and they are much more liberal than about 6 years ago when anything that Warner Bros had a part of was deleted . WB owns many labels .

This most recent one was claimed by Multi Screen Media - A giant company in India that owns Sony and other labels .

I do have a few videos that are muted or banned in other countries .

Sadly, my 1966 Corvair Monza in Los Angeles is no more.

You gotta admit, that was one tough little car! I was struck by the fact that even after rolling it intentionally several times, the mechanics were able to walk up and open the truck and engine deck lid every time! Then when they rolled that VW, the drivers door flew open on the first roll. LOL.
After it was all said and done, there was a report that came out in the mid '70s that said the Corvair was no more inherently dangerous to drive than any other car of that era. I would be willing to bet that if you put a driver that knew how to get the most out of the Corvair in that car in the Ford test that the Corvair wouldn't have looked anywhere as bad.

Diane - that whole report you are talking about is posted on this forum.

I think it's funny how everyone quotes the paragraph that you mention but they fail to mention all of the testimony in the report .

The guy who designed the rear suspension said it was unsafe but to no avail

The Ford test was a scam and the driver of the Corvair was intentionally making it go off course . It was entered as evidence in the report that you mention but was discounted
as advertising hype .

Watch this very short video and then tell me what you saw .

It's D "U" ane. LOL. I didn't know that the engineer questioned the rear suspension, but do know it was changed as early as the 1960 year model, again in 1964, and once again in 1965.

The only thing that stuck out to me in the video is what was that hanging out over the rear end? Did they intentionally add weights to act as a pendulum? If they did, what kind of nonsense was that?

Sorry Duane :sad5:

That thing hanging out in the back was a camera to capture the movement of the rear suspension .

In other tests in the long video they were not able to roll the car when there were 2 camera outriggers on the rear with a an estimated weight of 200 #.

The extra low swung weight at the rear caused the car to slide instead of rolling .
