My Corvair and other project ideas. sorry no pics

New postby gsp393 » Sun Jul 25, 2010 1:31 pm

I've got a few projects that I've got to get out of the way before I can get to my '65 Corvair convertable.
#1 my blk/blk '90 T-Bird SC Have to finish the engine/drivetrain overhaul.
#2 build a place to keep my projects out of the weather. I had a 26x50 place in the works before hurricane Ike destroyed it.
#3 my 841/2 Mustang GT convertable with 84k original miles. paint is new but interior and top is original and need to be replaced to bring it back to a 10. Needs a few things mechanicly from sitting up, but it stays inside covered in an air-tight storage compartment.
#4 my '31 Model A 5 window coupe on a frame set up for 392 Hemi.
#5 '65 Corvair, I have a 140 engine overhauled, never started, has a big cam and I plan to use roller rockers and Otto parts air cleaners. I have 2 '65 Corvair Convertables, the one I'm going to restore is a black with red interior automatic car. The other is blue with white interior 3 speed car which will be a parts car for the other. I plan to get the powerglide rebuilt with a shift kit and add air conditioning.
The number of the projects might change before I get them all done, except for 1 and 2. Money is the key to all of them.
Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks, I will. One thing I'm curious about is the availability of stock dash panels with air vents. I've got an A/C crank pulley on the 140 engine and I'd like to find as many factory A/C parts as I can find.

I think you need to re-arrange your Priorities --- Number 5 should be in number ones spot ! ::-):

Yeah - I have too many projects of my own and my Corvair is suffering because of it.

I exploded the input hub in my Vette transmission a few weeks back and that set me back on my priorities.

After I get my shop started again and a place to keep everything out of the weather, I'll be switching between projects doing bodywork and whatever else I can without spending too much money. Even at that it's going to be hard to get anyone thing finished. Right now it's easy to plan things out mentally, but reality never quite works the same.

Problem with me is it's been other peoples Corvairs instead of my own!

Got my own list too. Ooof. Too much to do, too little time, too little $$.....
