rear wheel bearings.

Post by roastbeef »

Hi,

So I got both rear bearings of my 1962 700 4dr.
Seems they need some attention! The bearings themselves seem ok but one has maybe moved a little on the shaft.
As you can see in the pics one side is different to the other?
One side has an extra part with tabs on which holds the seal, is this a later type? On this bearing you can see the housing
has cracked.
Any ideas please.

A 20 ton press is required, so I assume that greater than 12 tons is required as most shop presses I have seen are either 10-12 ton or 20 ton unless you are talking about an industrial grade press. I have heard that even 20 is not sufficient sometimes. Be careful!!!
