Finding TDC

Hi - Ok so I'm trying to find TDC for all cylinders, have a degree wheel attached, when at TDC # 1 rotors at # 1 plug wire ok, go 120 degrees should be TDC # 4, right, yet the rotor is not lined up with the # 4 plug terminal on the dist cap. Go another 240 degrees from # 1 and I should be at TDC for # 5 right, yet when I check the rotors position it's no where near the # 5 terminal. What am I missing or not doing correctly? This is a LM 110HP and I'm trying to do a cly leak-down test. Thanks.
