Headlight Adjustment Bracket

Post by blue62 »

'62 900 Monza - Replacing all 8 headlight adjustment brackets with new ones - drilled out the old ones and got 6 installed -
Anyone have a clue how to get the new screws into the outer 2 without taking the fender apart? Removed the 'access' hole covers but can't get my fingers (with washer & nut) up to the new screws....thanks

As mentioned you have to remove the headlight bucket. The fender can't be "taken apart" (removed) unless you cut it out. It is a pain to get up in there through the back side of the wheel opening. The nuts are buried under undercoating and 60+ years of grime. Mine were found under a similar blob of undercoat as seen in the left side of the picture. It took me some time just to locate them. They also require a deep socket due to the depth of the bucket stud and roughly 9"-12" of extension because the shields for the horns limit a wrench or ratchet rotation.
