Cam shaft

Post by tom becker »

I have a corvair cam and don't know what engine it came out of. The engine is supposed to be 110 HP. The intake lobe has a lift of 2.05 and the exhaust is 2.30. Any ideas? TOM

There will be a number on the cam shaft if its stock, like 889,891,304, if its a after market cam there should be a stamping on the gear end.

The stamping on the cam is GM5, and 383-9389. Would this cam be a 110 HP? TOM

889
should be 60-69 80,84,& 95 HP engines.

What are the numbers cast into the ends of the cylinder heads? That's another big piece of the engine I.D. puzzle.

I think Mr. terribleted may be right. the heads and block are at the machine shop so no way to check at this time. I think to be on the safe side, I'm going to put a new cam in the engine . Thanks for all the help. TOM

Before you order a camshaft it will be vairy important to know what heads you are getting refurbished. :tu:
