engine no start

Post by conniecorvair »

I have a 65 Monza 110 I drove it 50 miles or so and parked it overnight and next day it wouldn't start. Was running fine and had no misfiring or noises. I have replaced all the engine electrical and still nothing. I have since done a compression test and have no compression and a lot of fuel in cylinders. I am going to dry out cylinders and try a wet comp. test. Could the floats have stuck open and washed all oil off cylinders to cause this. The oil on stick does smell a bit of fuel..Any help out there would be appreciated as I have had the car only 2 weeks and haven't the chance to even take my wife for a ride in her. Thanks Craig in Vernon BC

Sometimes when the mechanical fuel pumps fail they will fill the crank case with fuel too. I'm not sure why it ran and now has no compression.

I always start with two basic things: is it getting fuel? and does it have spark?

I'm not sure how far these guys are away from you, but maybe you could get some hands on help if you contact them.

Thanks for the info Scott. I have been in contact with a place called Corvair Specialties in Langley BC. He was supposed to give me an e-mail address for a person in Kelowna BC ,but no reply yet. I'll have to leave it for a few days cause of other commitments. Thanks again Craig
