The throttle shafts can wear and cause seepage. Usually the worse issue they can cause is vacuum leak. Some thing is not correct in the one carb at least.
Corvair guy since 1982. I have personally restored at least 20 Vairs, many of them restored ground up.
Currently working full time repairing Corvairs and restoring old cars.

Ok. Thanks. I'm picking up some plug fittings for fuel line and see what I can find on that carb.

:think: I would think it would be unusual for the throttle shafts in the secondary carburetors to wear excessively, since the secondaries would see significantly less use than the primaries. In any case, Clark's Corvair Parts offers throttle shaft seal kits and throttle shaft bushing kits to help resolve problems with wear on throttle shafts. Both kits are shown in the center of the online catalog page shown below. Replacement carburetor throttle shafts are also available and are shown on page 58 below.

All metal improved design fuel inlet valves are also offered at the top of page 58. These offer a more positive seal than the standard needle and seat and might help you to resolve fuel control issues in the float bowls of your carburetors. You might also want to confirm that your fuel pump is not producing excessive fuel pressure, using the test procedures shown below…

It should be noted that significant wear on throttle shafts is pretty easy to see. The shafts are made of plated brass. If they are silver or grey where they go thru the body of the carb they may be worn but are probably not terrible (check for side play there should be essentially none...replace if much side play) , if they are brass colored they are pretty badly worn.

Got compression caps for the secondary fuel lines! Started her up and besides having to do valves she sounds great.
A couple oil leaks tho

One at the crush washer for oil pan. I've never used before and I guess I won't now

Second I can't get the oil filter bolt to screw in tight. What did I do wrong? Help!

Thank you for this info. I will buy the kit and probably switch over to those fuel inlets.

It's physically hard to see the leak so when I pull the carbs off I will set up something on the bench and see where it is truly leaking but it seems to be that rod.

And test my pump.
