61 Rampside speedo

Post by bsodt »

My 61 has seen a lot of owners I bet and my question is my speedo died and it was a 110mph style. I just replaced with a used FC style and it only shows 80 mph. Were there 2 or were all FCs 80mph and mine was from a car? Also it has the 1 2. 3 4 shift points but mine is a poweglide. I am assuming I need to get a correct transmission speedo gear now with a 80 speedo since my speed is now off.

Thanks

This was discussed on the other forum. --- Consensus is some PG FC's vehicles had speedometers with shift points.

Yes it's not unusual to see a car speedometer in an FC - they all have the same drive ratio. The gear in the transmission was selected at the factory to match the axle ratio.

Can we even say speedo anymore? It's like saying thongs when you are referring to your flip flops. ;-0

You could also send the speedo to a repair shop with the diameter of the tires & have it calibrated. :my02:
