I have looked at a number of turbo engines and there is a part on the Carter carb that I've never seen on other engines.
There is an electrical connection on the side of the carb - doesn't exist on other carbs I've looked at. The wires just go to ground and +12. I don't believe it is stock since the wire routing doesn't look like something GM would do. It is getting it's +12 off of the coil + post so it's not getting the full 12 volts while cranking. I'm thinking it is some kind of choke - but what do I know ?

This is a non stock electric choke conversion replacing the stock bi-metallic choke unit.

Re: Please ID this part, #1
So, I sent a picture of the choke to Clarks support and asked them to verify whether this part was their electronic choke. They replied that it "looks" like theirs. I then sent them an update saying that the part I have is missing the sensor that is pictured in their catalog. I have one +12 source and a ground wire with a ring connector grounded to a head bolt. So here's my question - is it possible that the ring connector IS the sensor and if so how can I tell ??? I know, for example, that some thermister sensor's are just a special ring connector that gets bolted under a spark plug. I'm trying to figure out if this is some hack job or is a valid installation...
