Stick with the name brand stuff as they have a reputation to protect.

If a brand X product is bogus and gets shut down, they just print new labels and are back out there.

For what it's worth, there are quite a few positive reviews of this product from consumers on Amazon.com...

My father in law uses that brand. I can't speak for it. I have a mystery oiler and I keep it filled with marvel. I leave the gas alone.

Vairguy, what would you consider to be a brand name that does the same? I haven't investigated these much and wanted to know what others might use to protect our cars from the ethanol.

I use good old Sta-Bil for gasoline/alcohol blends. Keeps gasoline usable for at least a year. The brand has been around a long time and has a good reputation.

When I see a brand with a space age name that uses catchy terms like "enzyme" I avoid it.

The fact is gasoline is a complex blend of chemical additives and now ethanol is often added. Ethanol gets a lot of blame for things it DOES NOT cause. A lot of hype and myth. Even before ethanol, car fuel systems would gum up if you let them sit for months, I know from experience. The other issue is moisture. Most gas tank water problems are due to condensation. I used to fly and aviation gasoline had NO alcohol in it, yet water forming in the tanks was a common problem due to condensation. A pilot NEVER parked a plane overnight unless the tanks were topped off to get as much moisture laden air out as possible. Another myth is ethanol makes gasoline evaporate (or boil in carburetors) at a lower temperature. Actually when the lead was removed from gasoline an increase in octane was partly accomplished by refining gasoline to increase octane, but it lowers the evaporation/boiling point. Of course modern cars have sealed fuel systems and fuel injection so they run fine with the new fuels.

Bottom line - I use a name brand premium gasoline in my Corvairs and if they are going to sit for months I add Sta-Bil and top off the tank.

Regarding rubber fuel lines - Use GATES Barricade hose - rated for ALL fuels sold, even 85% ethanol.
