The inevitable happened.

Post by God.favored »

Well guys I'm back! And I ended up finally with a little extra cash, and just the right car. last week I picked up a 67 500. Really excited about this car. Not much rust at all, already cut out the bad stuff. And am about to order new panels and primer on Friday. Car is so straight I'm thinking I can have it in primer and maybe even paint in the next 2-3 weeks but that may be just a dream. I'll see when I dig into some body work.

I Love seeing all your projects you guys have going and I've been so jellous and itching to get another Corvair ever since I sold my 63 Spyder. (Should've never sold that thing but oh well).

I'll upload some pictures later tonight when I get off work.

So its a 67 (I think) 2 door 500 with an automatic transmission.
Motor was out and torn apart when I got it, looks like almost everything is there. But its a 110 block and 95hp smog heads. Will probably be looking for a pair of 140's to go back in it.

Plan to get a custom interior done by someone my buddy recommended out here in vacaville CA. Need to find some good looking wheels and tires for it, and get this thing on the road!

Should be a fun project. I'm not planning on keeping it stock, anyone have any. Suggestions for modifications that would be fun to do? Was Thinking about no back seat and making a fiberglass shell for speakers since I don't have an original seat anyway. Also switching to a manual transmission.

Haven't had much time to work on the car in the last week. Did get a little more done, and had a friend who used the car for a photoshoot to use as his new album artwork. Should be cool to see a corvair on a CD cover.

I've been wanting to do something with more power for the engine but not sure the route I want to go yet. Any suggestions? Was looking at anything from a Subaru motor swap (apparently its quite a challenge due to the awd ). Or just going all out with the original motor getting some modified 140 heads and big bore it.

Well life's been busy, lots of work and lots of other projects that have come up. Here's some more progress on the car; customized the dash a bit. (Double din touch screen mount) welded in a new section of the floorboard. And treated the floorboards with por-15. should be in paint before too long. Now the engine, that's another story. Have big plans but that takes lots of money.

I've always liked the idea of putting a reverse-rotation chevy 4.3 liter V6 in place. Good job on the vair, BTW......
