New Wheels for my 65 Corsa

Post by vintagestan »

Just got my AR wheels today- love them! SS style, 17x7- 205 40s on front and 225 45s on the rear. Gotta get some better shots soon. Still have no passenger door so can't do any serious driving yet!

Definitely get some better pics! I was looking at those for my Monza. I was wondering how they look on a Vair.

Very nice. When I was a kid my neighbor had a LM coupe that was close to that color, brings back a memory.

Thanks- I will post more pics soon- I HAD Iroc 16x8s all around- had a little rubbing up front turning into parking lots- HD springs in front and I think 1.5 coils cut. Now with the 17x7's I don't seem to have an issue- and with the 225x45s in the back and 205x40s in front, I think it gives it kind of a tough "stance"

Love the look, Stan. Do you happen to know the backspace?

Looks good. I have AR TT 2's on mine in 17x7. They only offer them in 4" back spacing which works fine with stock drums when lowered. I just added discs to the front of mine and now they rub again. AR offers custom offset for additional cost. Highly recommend getting as much back spacing as you can in the front if using discs.

I have to double check but I think they are 4.5 backspace. These were custom made- I couldn't get them pre-made on a tire/wheel website.

On AR's site they say 0mm offset(4" back spacing) is the standard offset for the AR500's in 17x7 but offer custom back spacing which is easy since they are a 2 piece rim.
The regular production TT 2's are offered the same way with just one standard back space. In order to get a different back space one has to order custom rims which are the 2 piece. I know this as I just ordered a pair with their max back spacing which is 4.75".

Usually not into oversized wheels, but gotta say these really do look great on your car, which also looks really nice. Love the color.

The color is Pepper Grey Metallic- the color of the Eleanor Mustang in Gone in 60 Seconds (the newer version). I love the color- it's got a green tint but looks totally different in the sun- metallic sparkles- not tooooo much like a boat, though. Here are a couple more pics- not great ones- with no passenger door yet, I haven't driven it to a spot to get good shots.

Thanks- you know, I have fallen in love with the late coupe. I think it really is the most beautiful design GM ever put out. And since I've gotten it painted and on the road, it's amazing the comments I get from old timers, muscle car guys, and young guys. My lady and I took it out on the U Street corridor in DC a couple weeks back (where are the bars are) and guys in $100,000 mercedes and bmws were DROOLING over it, asking me what it was and how beautiful it is. I told them to sell their car and they can buy 10-15 nice ones!
