1964 Monza Convertible
1964 Monza Convertible
I have had the itch for a convertible really bad the last 6 months, and me being the person I am, bought one right before December, this 1964 convertible, its a 110 with a 4 speed manual trans, it has some rust on it, it is a Michigan car, the drivers floor is rusted, and a little of the frame rails right under the floor (floor supports?), but its not bad and the car hasn't started to sag or anything like that, the rest of it is pretty solid! it runs and drives, it has had all the brake lines redone so it stops too! it has essentially been pulled from a barn where it sat for 15 years, and made drivable, and I got it for $1300 so I don't think that I did too bad, Let me know what you think of my new project! I'll have more pics tomorrow, it was too dark to take pics tonight.

Well, I did a quick search, and that Chevy dealer is still in business!
Niswonger Chevrolet, Inc.

SALES: (877) 234-7601 · SERVICE: (866) 572-8822
Only 198 miles due south of your location. You should drive it down there someday and show them the car and the key and schedule an oil change (better bring your own oil filter!)

Re: 1964 Monza Convertible
I like your project, it reminds me of mine. I am new here, just bought a 64 Monza convertible powerglide. We got it October 3rd this year. I will be posting my pics and progress. I will be following yours also. I like the blue color. Mine is, well was multicolored as if you check it out you will see how crazy it looks! I just started this forum and will tell my story too, I am radicalbuff! I should say we since my husband is helping. Yes I am a girl and have this restoration project!

Re: 1964 Monza Convertible
Looks nice, same model/year as mine.
Enjoy driving it for a while before you do it up, I use mine daily and it's a hoot.

Nice car! Being a transplant from New York to Arizona, every once in awhile I miss the snow. At least here we don't have to shovel the heat off our driveways. Temps. this week will be in the 70's. Beautiful convertible weather. Too bad my car isn't done yet. Keep us updated.

Re: 1964 Monza Convertible
That is a very strange coincidence! My car also sat in a barn for 15 years with the same exact floor pan issue you described. Check out the color combo. Was there an ownership pact on this particular 64 model ? Park it when your done for the next generation.
Re: 1964 Monza Convertible
@Rondo I love the snow untill about january, then its old! Im jealous of thoes temps! Last week we had a wind chill of -35 and Your car is so close!
@DAVECS1 That is a strange coincidence! same engine/trans and color combo in the same condition parked for the same amount of time! whats your production number? i wonder if there close

I will try to grab a shot of the Tag when I leave the house
Re: 1964 Monza Convertible
Finding things like the special key from the dealership that sold the car new is an additional bonus.
I got the original paperwork with my 64 Convertible except for the Monroney sticker, and found out that it came from a dealer in suburban Philadelphia.
I don't think they are still in business, but not sure, since I can't actually read the name of the dealership on the papers.
I DID find it's original owner's home on Google maps street view, though!
Another cool thing I DID discover was that the papers and warranty book were signed on Dec. 12, 1963.
I got my Kentucky Historic vehicle tags on Dec. 12, 2013, EXACTLY 50 years later, to the day!
