So, for fun i want to check my Engine codes and such, any helpers? :tu:
Engine code TI0008YR 426.
Heads 20A
Transaxle 3846104 (J 4 63
TI008YR

T = Tonawanda, New York (GM Tonawanda Engine Plant)
http://media.gm.com/media/us/en/gm/comp ... wanda.html
1008 = Engine manufacturing date of October 08 (The year is never included in this date, unfortunately)
YR = 1962-1964 Spyder Only — 150 hp, Manual Transmission, Turbocharged (1962-63 = 145 CI, 1964= 164 CI) *

* Although the engine displacement increased from 145 CI to 164 CI in 1964, and this likely resulted in some torque and mid-range horsepower increase, the maximum horsepower produced remained rated at 150 hp, because the size of the turbocharger remained unchanged in 1964 and this proved to be the maximum horsepower limiting factor.

Heads: 20A

Like the number "74A" in the above sample, these digits to the right are likely some kind of internal production control number, and are not significant in identifying the functional configuration or production period of the cylinder head. The seven digits in the casting "frame" on the left are the identifying numbers that will provide technical information on the head.

Image

3817286, 3817287, 3886248, or 3886249 (1962-1963 Turbo heads), or 3819904, 3856636, 3856638, or 3886259 (1964 Turbo heads) will likely be found on your engine, depending on the model year.

I just took the time to go through all 17 pages of the posting of your car on this website... :goodpost: I think this is the 'tip of the iceberg' and we are going to be seeing and hearing much more about your Corvair :tu: I'm sure many more people now know what a 'Corvair' is. Amazing job on the detail of this car as well as the customizations you have made. Almost makes me want to go buy an Early model Corvair now; even though I have always liked the late model better. :dontknow: Congratulations, and I look forward to reading in this post as to the more exciting events and happenings in regards to your beautiful car. :rafman:

A lot of work here so not much on the forum.
New: im kind of a project manager on a Corvair my brother has bought, a 64 2dr 110hp car original from California so its rock solid. Set to be finished in february!

Also helping a Friend out with the resto on a 67 El Camino, and trying to do some work for my self on the What If.
