hey guys, got my wagon home yesterday and started to clean out the extra stuff in it which are in the parts pictures you will see. let me know what you think, i'll keep you updated on progress i make with it. also, i was either going to remove the interior and put new floors in or pull the engine and fix that. any thoughts?

Good luck on your project. Looks like a lot of work ahead but I hope it's fun and all goes well.

It's a good motivator when you get the engine running. It will be fun to watch it ride from the waste land to the highway of cool rides :)

I kinda think you are going to have to do both. Maybe as a money saver you could look for a running motor and work on the floors. I think it will be fun and challenging.

Originality with these cars is "from what I am reading and seeing" a personel thing. If you want original great, if you want custom, great. I know that if I was in the market ( O.K. I might be) for a wagon I would be just as interested in a good custom as well as a original driver. just my
Again good luck and look forward to the project.

62Vair700, Congrats on your wagon!
I hope you get to finish it and get to enjoy it for many years to come.
I too have a wagon. It is a 61 with a 60 front clip. I’m planning to make it an electric Corvair.
BTW - I don’t mean to offend anyone here with some of the following. It is simply MTCW on how “I” feel. Not what is in stone! ggg
It is merely my point of view, as I’m sharing it to let other Coravir guys who share in the same passion as I do = Corvairs; get to know a little bit about me and what I struggle with personally.
I feel that if a car, any car, is rare like the 62 wagons, over the 61 wagons, and they are mainly original, and in good shape as well; they should be restored and enjoyed/driven to help show the historical part of how things were. But keep in mind: custom paint, wheels and interior can easily be changed back without hurting a car. It is the big ticket things that “I have” a hard time doing to a rare car.
Case in point: I had a guy offer me my asking price for our 63 Rampside. We are the second owners and it is all original accept for the PG. The guy wanted to install a big block Chevy in the front of the bed. I don’t need or want the funds that bad – So I did not sell it to him.
Now if he came up with the funds and did not say what he planned on doing = what I don’t know will not hurt me.
But then again this is me and who I am. It is how I feel and what I personally struggle with. I’m not planning on changing the world. ggg
On the other hand, "IF" a car is not original, in poor or very bad shape, and/or missing more parts than came on the car; I personally feel its ok “for me” to have free license. Again I say me!! ggg
Again this is how I feel and what I do. It is what I struggle with for who I am. I’m not telling others what to do. I might wish and fingers crossed, GGG, that they might see it that way too. However, someone else’s car – is not mine = so what say do I really have in the matter. ggg - LOL
On my 61 wagon: the front clip, floors and driver’s side rocker panel have been replaced before I got the car.
I would not customize it or do what I plan on doing with it “IF” it was original, all there and in nice shape too.
However, the reason I purchased this wagon was because of the shape it was in. It was just a body nothing more. The front clip was not original and that there are way more 61 wagons than 62. So I do not feel bad customizing it. ggg
I see so many nice “CUSTOM cars” of all kinds out there – that I think are way cool!
I’m blown away with what some people have done and how they pictured their car. I’m in awe of many who can do the work themselves on their own car. Heck, I cannot weld or do body work and paint. Sometimes I wish I had half of their gift as well as to not struggle with myself on changing an original and/or rare car.
But then again that’s me.
For everyone else keep up the great work! I enjoy being able to be a part of it. Thanks for sharing it with us. I like to share in the joy of others and to dream that someday I too will have the gift to do that kind of work and to even be able to weld and do body work. ggg
All the Best, Tony
