My first paint job / '65 Corsa

Post by firstgencamarojunkie »

After being quoted anywhere between $6k and up for a paint job, I decided to try it myself. I told myself after all I could just sand it back down if it didn't turn out. So after hours of youtube videos, vendor pages, I chose Eastwood's single stage Daytona Yellow. Got her sanded, primer'd, sanded again, and got this far - was so excited had to post a pic. Looks like I have plenty of overspray and orange peel to sand off - but - already looks great in the sun. Took the Thanksgiving week off to work on this so I hope to have made good progress a week from today - Andy.

Thought I'f update the posting = took the week off to get this far. Daytona Yellow, clear coated. I hope never to see a sanding disc or compounding pad again for as long as I live! I think it turned out pretty good though. Next, need to get my buddies to help me get the doors / trunk / hood on.

Andy.

So, did it come out to the $6K that you were quoted?

Came out to approx $500 materials +/- plus about 40 - 50 hours my labor. Extra bonus is I was able to lose 4 pounds doing all that sanding and buffing. Hmmmmmmmm..... New idea for a fitness clinic.......

That looks absolutely beautiful! I'm not a fan of yellow color cars myself, but can still appreciate when a paint job looks good! probably will be better than my future attempt haha
