I saw the car at the Detroit convention.

It was very well thought out and pretty impressive. :tu:

I wanna go for a ride !

Thanks for sharing !

Here's my plan for a V8 Corvair - look closely. :;):

Is that a Lotus or Delorean chassis? Also I caught the stock bucket seats, almost missed that significant detail on the dual V8 car. -Steve Gibson-

Yeah - you have to look closely to see the second engine in the back seat in that one.

Here are a few more pics of the other rear engined car. Many of these pics that I find don't have any text and I forget to save the title sometimes. I think the car was a GM prototype Corvette but I'm not sure.

J.M. :not worthy:

THAT would be my ideal V-8 car. Engine in the rear, rear seat still usuable, and a very clean set-up. Does not look hacked and thrown in. Congrats!! and enjoy it. :)

I've seen a lot of Corvairs over the years and worked on a bunch too, but this car really makes me sit back and say, "Now that's a really a neat car". Perfect body, looks somewhat stock (sleeper), very clean install, gotta be fast... Hope to see it in person one day.

I see Bill Mitchell all over that car! Too bad Chevy never built a rear or rear mid engine V-8 car. Of course then the Corvair might not have the following it now enjoys. I think the LS series engines are the new SBC. To quote Mr. Le Veque: "How to put a Small Block Chevy into a (Blank)". Now: "how to put a LS1 into a (blank)". Cool car Jonathan!

I've been thinking of replacing the Olds in our Corvair for some time. My friends, of course, think a 502 would be just right, but I dont think I need more power, just better weight distribution. The rear wheels are carrying nearly 2200 lbs. and the nose gets "real light" off the line and on the shift to second at WOT. The use of an LS engine would keep power the same and lose weight, but seeing this one makes me want to build another but with the 4sp and engine behind the axle. NICE CAR for sure, and food for thought. As you can see from mine, "sleeper" was one of the goals in it's consturction.

This is always what I wanted to own. Any suggestions on what you might have done differently. Would you consider doing another one?

@ Greybeard

Why not drop a Rover aluminum V8 in it? Originally based on the Buick 215 but with 40 years of development.
