Valve Adjusting Valve Cover

Post by wbabst »

I have never adjusted valves on a Corvair, but have read about doing it and installing a half of valve cover to catch the oil while the engine is running during the adjusting time. I had an extra set of cover so instead of cutting them in half, I figured I would try just cutting a window in the cover. I got out my handi-dandi plasma cutter and made a couple of valve covers for adjusting my valves. It may not make a difference, but I like them.

Nice job. A tool you don't need often, but when you do it sure is nice to have.

I was going to make a set of them too but I thought that someone said it only has to be a third of a cover. I have a set that was in the trunk of a donor car that mice made a nest in and the moisture had rotted.

Its true you only need one cover converted, but having a set I made two so I can put them both on and just get 'er done with out having to stop and change everything mid way.
