just as a note of caution. I have ZERO knowledge on the Em cars, but i replaced the front glass on my LM and everything went smooth until i was snapping the LAST trim clip into place. it would not seat and click so I kinda "popped it" with my palm... I now have a 18 inch crack up the glass starting at the point I pressed on. Time to do the whole job again.

Trim on the windshield of an EM/FC (if car has trim) installs into the windshield gasket BEFORE installation. It's not like a late model.

My only tip is to get the trim and seal exactly how you want it on the glass before getting near the car. The guy who did mine was an old school expert, he got the trim to sit well in the new rubber by bending the edge to match the rubber trim slot before he started any fitting. New rubber gaskets have an equal depth trim slot, whereas the originals had a deeper slot depth at the bottom compared to the top. He also marked glass and seal with a lot of lines so that he could install in exactly the same position when he got to mounting the glass. Took him about 4 hours total, but by heck the job is pukka.

Yes, a new gasket is needed. Which leads me to... step one is to take a razor blade and cut the inside lip on the gasket (inside the car) all the way around. Then put your feet on the upper part of the windshield about 20" apart and gently push the windshield out, trim and all. Out at the top, bottom of the windshield stays put. Do not pry on the installed trim! After the windshield is out, spread the gasket open to release the trim.

I'd get a new one from Clarks, but that's just my opinion. I wouldn't chance an old one myself.

It's pretty unlikely you're going to crack the windshield in a rubber gasket install. Late models "feature" a raw edge on the glass that goes right by a couple dozen metal molding clips. Tip the clip a bit too much and *zing*! (you know what that means). In an early or FC the glass is surrounded by at least an inch of cushy rubber.
