I'm trying to keep my '65 "original" (i.e. the lived in look). The drivers seat top and passenger seat bottom have significant damage, so I'm thinking of putting these two together and replacing the upholstery on only one whole seat (rather than half of both).
Can I unbolt the seat assembly at the pivot easily and swap the seat backs over?

Re: '65 Monza seats - dismantling?
The process suggested is possible, but the word "easy" does not fit.
As you take the seats apart, the foam rubber will crumble, and you will probably have to do them both. If the vinyl is original, it will be brittle and not feel good, and probably crack as you take it apart.
Kits are available from Clarks. If you have not done this kind of thing before, check with a local interior shop.

Mine were shot, but I agree that once you get in there, it will start to escalate. Best bet to retain stock look may be to bite the $$$ bullet and get a couple new cover and stuff from Clark's. If you mix and match, stuff won't match correctly and it would bother the hell out of me.
