Do Corvair Drivers Look at Themselves as Somebody Special?

Post by bbodie52 »

This is an interesting 1966 Corvair advertisement that I had not seen before… The description of Corvair drivers seems to be just as applicable now as it was in 1966!
Do Corvair drivers look at themselves as somebody special?

According to what our research people have turned up, they've got reason to.
As a group, Corvair owners are well-educated, earn above average income and have "in" type tastes.
Many take a knowledgeable pride in the workings of rear-engine traction and 4-wheel
independent suspension — the things that make their cars something special to drive.
(A few have even been known to become a little fanatical on the subject.)
But all in all those who know do a pretty good job of keeping their egos under control.
In fact, they don't really behave much differently than other people we know.
Except, of course, when they're driving.
Ever notice?
They smile more.

I don't think that's correct, I bought my first new Corvair when I made $1.00 per hour in 1962 & later a new 65 making $1.65 an hour. Then 2013 came around & I wanted another Corvair & found my 64. I'm a high school drop out, lived pay check to pay check most of my life. I did have a couple years in the mid 90's where I made just over $25,000. Now i'm retired & live on SS & am better off now then when I worked. :dontknow:
