Praise the lowered...!
Re: Praise the lowered...!
Didnt think of that, yeah mines no where near as low as yours, but that would hit first. Especialy on a high center. I need to replace the pin or bolt at the back on mine, thanks for reminding me.
Yeah from what I understand you can go to a floor shifter, but not having seen one I dont know if the rod sits any higher, but dont see how it could after the gas tank.
I dont mind the sloppy shifts, just throw it all the way lt or rt then push it forward or back. Reverse can be a bee itch at times though, though I didnt have much time to drive it before the salt, and it did get easier the more I drove it.

Yeah I can say that I have sat in many 64 and 65 greenbrier's in fields and never payed attention to the shifter. Just last year at a car lot/mechanic shop sat 2 64' vans both being manual tranys. Went to go see them last night after work and the pair was gone. I should of swooped them up when I had the chance.
Still think that when going low and I mean low you must use a power glide. The FC design just does not have the protective tunnel like the early and late model cars.

No I really think that air ride is the way to go. On the other hand cut off wheels and shocks are really cheep.

Here are some pics of the 4 spd shift linkages from my '64 and '61 FCs.

Re: Praise the lowered...!
I have gotten hung up on the adjuster collar clamp many times, sucks....usually kicks it out of gear. If I hit a bump just right the lower control arms gets blasted. Its still a blast to drive, even though I do slow it up on some routes.
