Since it's unlikely that my Rampy will win for April 2014, I am submitting my entry for May:

1962 Corvair 95 Rampside

The previous owner was one of three friends who bought the shell and completed the resto-mod in 1986, spending over $30,000 in the process.

As purchased:
95HP with 4 speed
Custom-made aluminum dash gauge pod with Stewart-Warner gauges
Power antenna that rises from the just behind the driver inside the edge of the bed
American Racing Outlaw II wheels and 14" radials
Bedliner applied to the lower bed and ramp
Very loud air horn
Chrome vent visor window shades
Engine cover converted to hinged cover with prop rod
Large "truck style" reverse lights with dash-mounted switch
Fog lights with dash-mounted switch

My mods:
Front disk brakes
Lowered front end just a bit
New inside wheel well trim
New carpet
Added arm rests
Replaced old failing Pioneer AM/FM/Cassette stereo with Sony AM/FM/SiriusXM/USB stereo and new speakers
Installed 3 point seat belts
Sliding rear window

This is my 61 Monza Coupe. I bought it in Sept. 2012 and it was drivable but had body damage and rust and the interior was a goner. Lots of help from you guys and a year and a half later I think I'm ready to try for COTM.

Now that the paint is finally done I can focus on the interior. I got a complete set from Clarks and redid the seats and doors. I primed and sealed the entire floor with bed coating brushed on and sprayed undercoating in the inner panels. I also cleaned up the reusable chrome and repainted the colored parts of the badges.
installed carpet and new seats. I made a speaker panel to go in the hold and vinyl covered it.

stripped and painted the trunk with the proper splatter paint for 61 and added a touch of vinyl for contrast.

ordered smoothies and painted centers to match the interior then added the baby moons. Tires are 185x60x15 on 7" wide rims.

All work was done by be except the paint spraying and the covering of the front seats. The engine is not painted yet but since I now have to pull it out to replace the clutch family I will be totally cleaning and repainting it. It has been quite an enjoyable but busy journey...and worth every minute and dollar.

When I read that article I remembered that truck. I was a member of the Circle City Corvair club then and that's when The Hoosier Auto Show was held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. There would be 120+ Corvairs at that show every year, a huge event. That truck was really nice and had a lot of money put into it. Jeff
