Looking forward to meeting new folks and learning about these air-cooled beauties.
I recently scored a 1963 Corvair Monza 900 but trim appears to be 64.

:welcome2:  Welcome to the Corvair Forum! Congratulations on your recent 1963 Corvair acquisition.

I would suggest that you post some pictures detailing the body from different angles, the trunk, interior, and engine compartment. You should also include pictures of the VIN plate (in the driver's door jamb) and the body tag (in the engine compartment). The engine serial number might also be useful -- to the right of the generator, between the oil filter adapter and the main top engine sheet metal shroud. (The engine serial number starts with the letter "T", has four numbers, and then a one or two-letter suffix code). With pictures like this members of the Corvair Forum can help you to confirm the identity and condition of your newly acquired Corvair.

This link will help you by providing additional links that can lead you to sources of free Corvair-related documentation in Adobe Reader (.pdf) format, as well as additional useful sources for parts and supplies.

:dontknow: I would like to encourage you to expand on your initial post and tell us more about yourself, your Corvair, and your goals for your Corvair. If you can describe your personal assessment of your mechanical skills and abilities, that would help a lot. Members of the Corvair Forum love to be helpful in assisting other Corvair owners with technical support and advice, but it helps a lot if we have some understanding of your technical background and mechanical abilities, Corvair-related knowledge, etc. Helping us to know more about you and your Corvair will help us to write comments to you that are tailored to your needs and experience. Pictures are great too, because pictures of your Corvair will help us to visualize where you are with your Corvair and its condition at the present time. Knowing your location is also useful, because knowing where you live can sometimes suggest possibilities to resolve some issues or problems.

Thanks for the welcome, Brad. I went to see the car yesterday and worked a little on it. Here are pics, but forgot to get the engine SN. By the numbers it's a 1963, but there are some 64 features (dash, trim). So maybe it was a late 63 or someone had custom work done somewhere along its lifetime.

Yes, all of the front and rear trim, including the taillights, lower rear grill, and wheel covers appear to be a 1964 Corvair. The engine also has a harmonic balancer serving as a crankshaft pulley, which did not appear until 1964. Is the cooling fan also a cast magnesium fan? If it is, it is from a 1964 or later engine. the engine may be a 110 hp 164 cubic inch engine from a 1964-1969 Corvair, instead of the 102 hp 145 cubic inch engine you would expect to see on a 1963 Corvair.

A picture of the VIN tag (door jamb), Body Tag (engine compartment), and the engine serial number (to the right of the alternator, between the oil filter adapter and the top engine shroud) may help to clear up the mystery. But everything points to this being a 1964 vehicle. The alternator is normally only found on 1965 and later engines, but it can be fitted on earlier engines.
