Hello to all

Post by BZanella56 »

I joined here over a year ago but never got back to posting anything. So, I guess I'm still considered new! I was born in 1956 and not long after I turned three, I went with my mother to Cochituate Motors in Cochituate, Ma. to pick up our brand new 1960 Corvair, four door, three speed (I can actually remember it). In late 1964, we traded up to a 1965 Monza four door, three speed and it just went from there with me. When I was 15, I had a 1965 Corsa Convertible, but had to sell it as we were moving to Florida! I've continued with Corvairs then other cars,(Camaros, Vegas, V8-Vegas, S-10s) but my heart was always with Corvairs. Now retired, I have a small shop at my home, and I do all kinds of work on Corvairs "part time" (wife put her foot down). I build engines, diffs, 4-speeds, three speeds, P/G transmissions, early & late. I even have a 1960 T-Bird on a rotisserie.
Hopefully, on this website, with my experience, I can help others and I can learn some also......Bob

Welcome --- I have a "more door" LM that "followed me home" even though I had a convertible. It has turned out to be more fun that I thought it would. It gets more attention than the convertible.

Was your V8 Vega a SBC, or did you use the aluminum Buick/Rover V8? In the late 70's folks were buying Vega's for cheap and installing the junkyard Buick aluminum V8 (later sold to Rover by GM). It weighed within a few pounds of the old boat anchor Vega four so no spring changes and it still handled well.

Welcome, sounds like you have enjoyed cars so far in your life. I was also born in 56, first car was a Corvair and after a 40+ year gap I am enjoying my 2nd.
