Hello from Fresno 66 monza
Hello from Fresno,CA!
I have a 66 Monza in great shape but is not running. Me and dad were going to clean it up before he passed and I currently can not do much with it. I was wondering what the current market for these are?

Welcome to the Forum! Sorry Dad is not available to help. Some pictures of the car would really help. The more pictures the more likely a potential buyer will step up.
The car not running is price issue. Perhaps you can describe what the engine issues are and we might be able to help and explain repairs, and in turn get a better price.

I'll take some pictures, the car ran when parked but that was 5+ years ago. Body is super straight with some mild dings and interior is in great shape.

Not the most flattering of pictures stuck in the corner of the garage. But super straight and clean interior and would take no time to clean up. I was going to but I have two other cars I'm finishing.

Re: Hello from Fresno 66 monza
Any idea what they are selling for?
Re: Hello from Fresno 66 monza
All depends on the buyer. Considering there are no pics of the engine, trunk bottom, floor pans or engine bottom here is my evaluation.Ryan Missakian wrote:Any idea what they are selling for?
Worst case (a buyer like me):
I have seven 65-66 Corvairs already and I would not give more than $400 because it does not run and I would have to assume the worst when it came to the internal condition of the engine, tranny, fuel tank, brakes, etc. Most cars that are put away and not used for many years have a reason they got parked and it usually is not something simple. Sadly, I would part out a Corvair like this as it is worth far more in pieces than as a whole.
Best case buyer: Maybe $1500. Someone who doesn't know much about Corvairs and is looking for that model and assumes that the engine just needs fuel and spark. They forget how bad the brakes and fuel tank can get after 5 years of non-use. They don't think about the carburetors, fuel pump or transmission that can't be checked before the purchase if the engine won't start.
Rust belt people always want low-rust California Corvairs but they rarely pay to have them shipped east, especially when they won't start and drive because of the extra cost involved.

All you wanted to know about trim tags is in this thread. It is a small rectangular tag in the engine compartment with all the options the car had when built.Ryan Missakian wrote:Not sure where trim tag is but if you can use the vin it is 105376L103553

It will really help sell your car.

Yikes, anything less than 800 I'm taking the buckets out. I understand the complications with non running cars, I'm just not familiar with the value of these cars but they don't sound like they are worth much. Thanks for the information I appreciate it.

Re: Hello from Fresno 66 monza
So there are other Corvair owners in town! I moved here in July 2015 and have only seen 5 cars on the road. If you have a contact for the buyer could you find out if he wouldn't mind if you forwarded it to me. There used to be a Corvair Club chapter in Fresno but there contact info in the Fresno Bee auto section is no longer valid. I would like to get together with other owners of Corvairs.
