Diagnosis complete, but still need help.

I've determined the problem to be the wheel bearing, but now I can't separate axle from brake backing plate. Now what?

Re: What is that noise?

Noise happens with engine off, while coasting in neutral. I've put it up on jacaranda. I've put it in Drive and no noise, I then compressed rear suspension to simulate being on the road. I've narrowed it down to the inboard side of the left axle but not with suspension hanging. U joint? No the 63 an...

Re: Exhaust Options

If you look closely the radius of the U bend on the left is smaller than the right, I needed to do this so the muffler would not rub on the left tire. It could be shortened even more for a more symmetrical finished look. As a side note, my little 80 HP, now runs smoother, and feels like it has just ...

Re: Exhaust Options

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170505/b2a02dd5fa88a8282331b51083dc7a44.jpg I built my own dual exhaust last weekend from 2 singles. Mine is an EM, the engine is not centered on the CL of the car, so the exhaust is a bit off set, my fab skills are limited, I suppose with better skills you could ...

Re: cost to repair corvair plug hole

I had to do an emergency repair on a plug hole by using an 18mm thread chaser (not a tap) and using a 18mm plug. 5 months later, it's still there, holding well.

What is that noise?

I recently built a dual exhaust, complete with crossover pipe, I got stupid along the way and didn't put hangers on the 2" glasspacks. Yesterday on my way to work 1/2 my exhaust fell off. I fixed and improved it, added hangers. Yesterday, while on my way home from work a horrendous noise starte...

Chasing Ghosts

So, I am still chasing ghosts. I'm trying to possibly what became of my uncles Corvairs. All I know is the info he gave me in a couple emails. I don't want them, just a curiosity https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170415/27db99edf753a6517065358e20f3e1b5.jpg about what happened to them. His name is B...

63 to 64 suspension upgrade

I'm beginning a update and upgrade project on my 63 sedan daily driver. I have all parts needed (some used some new) for the upgrade to a 64 rear suspension with the camber compensator [CC]. Being that this is my daily driver and I have other things to do to it I'd like to not take a very long time ...

Re: The Gas Heater Saga

I now have a new problem. The overheat switch has failed, but weirdly, the heater works, it just doesn't cycle on/off, just constantly on.

Re: Should I do it fellas?

Love the "tin Man" repair. I might have to do that as well, it would certainly continue the semi-steampunk look I am going for where all chrome will be copper.

Re: Corvair Gas Heater to LP conversion.

I had to bypass the purge switch with a toggle switch on the dash. I stupidly left the wires on the body of the heater. You can guess what happened. All 3 wires elted and contacted, while powered, the body of the heater. I redid the wires again, away from the heater but now can not get it to fire. I...

Re: Corvair Gas Heater to LP conversion.

Having done this I assume you know more about these gas heaters than I do. I need to pick your brain, (kinda ASAP) on these devices. I have one, it was working, but I got stupid. I'm now trying to solve a problem. If you are on FB please contact me over on COG or email me directly please.
