Re: Spark, Fuel - no start....HELP OUT OF IDEAS
Ted, my right carb kept leaking so I set the float level at 1 & 3/8 & have the float drop at 1 & 3/4 & haven't had a problem since. Before I did that I would start it & right away knew it was running on 3 cylinders. Once I got out & walked to the back of the car & the rig...

Re: Spark, Fuel - no start....HELP OUT OF IDEAS
Ted, I should have said float drop. Sounds like his is flooding out. Then the plugs get wet & won't fire. After a while the plugs dry out & it starts but when it's off for a short time it won't start again. Ask me how I know this happens. Click the attacnment to enlarge.

Did you put a timing light on it & check the timing running? You need to be at 12 to 16 BTDC.

Re: TIIIORD?
The Issue With Aluminum This choice made problems for Chevy and GM: aluminum is much more expensive to produce than iron, and GM had no plant devoted to molding things out of aluminum. Thus, GM would have to either build its own plant or convert an existing one.GM started talking with Alcoa Reynolds...

Thank you for your service young man. In 1964 I went to Ft. Wayne in Detroit for the draft & 2 weeks later I got a letter saying I was unfit for military service but they didn't give the reason.

Ted. Wait until you get 75 & are half deaf. To many bars in the 80's for me. Vertigo so bad sometimes you have to hang on to the spinning bed while your body spins the other direction & when you are driving & have one of those spells, scary. I had one where I hit the brake...

Re: Powerglide Not Going into Gear
This is a good read about the powerglide. http://www.corvair.org/chapters/corvanatics/files/documents/manuals/PwrGld_man.pdf Well worth the read. On pages 19 & 20 Bob Bellew says how to tow a Corvair with a powerglide. Just as I thought because we towed Chevy powerglides in the 50's & 60's. ...

Re: Need Some Throttle Linkage Help
It should have been put in place before you installed the drive train but it will go in from under the car, it's tricky but can be done. Ask me how I know. That rod has been hardened & isn't easy to bend but then you do not want to bend it.

Re: Powerglide Problems
The car recognizes that the shifter is in NEUTRAL, so it starts, but once I give it some throttle it moves forward, in any gear. I have re-installed the cable as per the instructions (3/8” lower than the pan and all that stuff), when that didn’t work I took off the pan and made a visual confirmatio...
