Re: Tail light housing removal on 64 ????
2 phillips screws behind each lense. Loosen or remove these to separate the bracket from behind the aluminum housing, then it should come out. To install put the bracket on the back of the housing with the screws only tight enough to catch in the bracket. You will see rectangular notches in the stee...

Re: Weatherstrip
This is not the correct material looking at the soff seal link. Looks like a strip for 65-69 cars which gets this contour all the way around the engine bay. Clark's Corvair Parts has the correct 2 parts. They are a different contour and the one that mounts to the lid has push in pins. The front piec...

Re: Rear cam adjustment bolts removal
Do you have the inner end of the strut rod removed from the diff, or do you have the suspension arm jacked up when you are trying to remove the cam bolt? If the inner end of the strut rod is bolted in place and the suspension not jacked there is a very strong twist against both inner and cam bolts w...

Re: 1964 Monza convertible project
I do not think it is a parts car. Looks like it is likely better than that, but, it will be a lot of work to make it nice. That said cars that look A LOT better than that one may need most all the same things to really be nice.

Re: 1964 Monza convertible project
Looks like the floors are/were gone or bad. The driver's side at least has a replacement floor panel tack welded into place. This should be welded fully to be stronger. Floor rust is common in Verts. Through replacement panels from Clark's Corvair Parts and some fabrication floors are not a terrible...

Re: Oil Leak - Skid Plate area
It could come from the counter gear shaft which presses into the rear housing (not at all common but can happen), or it can come from the gaskets and spacers between the oil pump cover and the rear housing (also not a common leak spot)

Re: Oil Leak - Skid Plate area
Good thought Joel. Sometimes those leak as well. The real answer is clean the area completely then operate and find the source of the leak.

Re: Oil Leak - Skid Plate area
Oil in the skid plate can come from anywhere that has oil above the skid plate. Oil cooler seals, generator/alternator adapter gasket, oil fill cap, oil filter, rear housing gasket. oil pressure light switch, rear crankshaft seal, oil pump, fuel pump, distributor gasket, and rear of top cover gasket...

Re: Oil Leak - Skid Plate area
I had a similar oil leak issue, took everything apart. Discovered oil was leaking from skid plate bolt, put sealer on threads, no more leak.B8BDA258-240F-4F18-8F32-D8D1D7D54CF1.jpeg Sounds like you have a cracked rear housing Steve. the hole that that bolt goes into is supposed to be blind (should ...

Re: workshop manual
The Chevrolet Corvair Shop Manual. Actual Gm shop manual is what you want first and foremost. You need the 1961 manual and the supplement covering your year if your car is not a 61. Clark's Corvair parts sells reprints.

Re: Rear Suspension issue
They are captive nuts and they can break off. Keep soaking with PB Blaster and hammering on the head some helps it penetrate. Getting them loose without breaking them off is a good plan. They can be drilled out and repaired if they break, but it is a pain in the tail to take the suspension apart fa...

Re: Thoughts on this Sale
Looks overpriced to me. Needs a top. Damage on left door. Lots of pitted trim. Underside not detailed. Seat upholstery mediocre. significant rust on seams and flange at bottom of rocker panel (in fact the bottom flange of the rocker panel looks too straight as well as i see not spot weld marks like ...

Re: What is the correct shifter lever for 66 Corsa please?
It is taller than what you have and bends back toward the seat. There is only one Corsa shifter. A short shift setup is the same shifter with parts added under the floor to decrease the throw. Look for some photos of Corsa interiors. Google Corvair Corsa Interior and select images. There are plenty ...
