If space was no concern, I would think it would be a lot more cost-effective to go with a flat 12 instead of a flat 8 or 10. Just need to couple the ends of the crankshafts together. Let each engine rotate its own cam.

As Dave said, budget and location location location. I have a spare 64-65 4-speed trans. in Northwest Ohio, sitting on the shelf. It has been fully diassembled, cleaned, and all worn parts replaced. PM me if interested.

If you look in the drivers front wheel well, you should see 2 weld on nut half way up the rear where all the water hits.

Based on the car Fisher Body tag and the engine stamping, it's vairy likely that's the original engine.
On bit of misinformation is the 2nd week of October 1965 car build date. That would have been the 2nd week of October 1964. In the 10th month of 1965, they would have been building 1966's.

What are the I.D. numbers/letters on your spare RB block? We should be able to tell if the production date is close enough to be the original engine.
