Re: Bracket?

Yes, from the pictures you posted of it being loaded onto a trailer, that bracket is for holding the triangle washer fluid refill bottle. That's also not the correct engine deck lid....but you knew that. Vairy nice car though! :tu: :tu: :tu:

Re: Inlet needle and seat question.

Just realized my throttle pumps I removed had no springs or retaining clips on them. My kit did not come with them either, your supposed to swap them over to the new ones, there was only the lower thinner spring in the bottom :banghead: Pm me your address and I'll get a couple in the mail to you.

Re: choke rod hole plugged

I have drilled 61 heads to install automatic chokes. Didn't hit anything that leaked anything.

Re: Loose rocker arm

Back off the inner set screw. Adjust the rocker as necessary. Snug down set screw as best you can while holding the outer hex. While holding the set screw, tighten the outer hex a lil further.

That's how you eat (complete) an elephant (project). One bite at a time! Great work and a fine example to the rest of us.

Re: Corvair Lakewood 61 - NL

On my Lakewood, the license plate lights will not come on if the rear engine access door is not latched. That's how it gets its ground.

Re: Odd Hesitation Issue

Doubtful but possible. The only wear part that isn't normally replaced is the throttle shaft. It's more likely something was missed on the rebuild.

Re: The Big Sleep

I don't believe any of the above failures will still allow you to get 115-125 p.s.i. compression readings.

Re: My 68 cruiser project

This all depends of course on what left lower damper door sheet metal you have. It is differant to fit the 12 plate cooler or the 8 plate/folded fin version. As yet there have been no pictures of it.

Re: My 68 cruiser project

I was referring to a good air seal on the top and bottom shrouding. You have a mismatch of parts there.

Re: My 68 cruiser project

Vairy nice work. Make sure you have a good seal on the oil cooler cover. Or go to the folded fin version.

Re: Direction switch grip.

Bend the tab that you depress to install the wire outward a bit. It will then put more pressure on the wire.

Re: Engine woes

1. Blocked crossover intake tube on that side.

2. Someone removed the crossover, turbo and carb. for whatever reason. Rag or plug was put in the head intake port for safety. Blocking plug was forgotten when the crossover was reinstalled.
