I am getting some end play in my 1965 110hp corvair
that I use for an airboat motor Is that caused by ware on the thrust bearing
it seems to run alright that way
do I need to fix it or just keep using it that way
the bearing is fine otherwise

That is a lot of good information Thanks for that.
with my set up I have to bend the pan bottom in about a 1/2" at the rear
to be able to use a VW starter as it has to mount in front of the propeller
also I would like to replace the thrust bearing is that a hard job?

Ok I will go with the helicoils
I do need a new pan gasket and also need the valve tube O-rings some of those are leaking
where is the best place to buy those two Items online

I have several 1/4" pan bolts that a stripped out

OK guys I got the message
I removed the ammeter and had a cheap voltmeter gauge
so I put that in and it is working great so that problem is solved

I agree with what you are saying but I used the instructions from the auto meter company where I bought the meter and only removed the fuse I had and went direct hookup without the fuse and so far all is working fine this is on an airboat so I will try it like you say and see if I get the same resul...

fuse is between the large red wire from alternator and the positive side nof the ammeter gaugecad-kid wrote:Where is the 20 amp fuse located?

Just bought a new voltage regulator for 1964 an d I have a 20 amp fuse in my line and when I get to around 1400 rpm
it blows that fuse
my alternator is a 37amp so what do I need a bigger fuse?
