I have a 66 4-speed in my 65 Corsa. I didn’t install it but it obviously fits.

Re: Stiff clutch pedal
When I had my engine removed to rebuild it I decided to lube the cross-shaft. I kept pumping grease into it and eventually 50 year old gunk started coming out of the end of the shaft. As a lubricant the old grease was useless. I didn't have a binding problem beforehand but the zerk is there for a re...

Re: Part of the Solution , Not part of The Problem
BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION< NOT A PART OF THE PROBLEM I believe I donated the last time you posted a message - but I can't really remember if that's accurate or if I'm just hallucinating. In any case I just donated $100 more. I have a lot of money tied up in my '65 Corsa and it would not even be run...

Re: 65 Corsa Turbo Overheating at sustained highway speeds
I have to agree with Kevin. I’m not using the Black Box system - I installed an EDIS-6 and a Megajolt Ignition controller which allows me to modify timing via timing maps. The drop in head temps with variable AND correct timing is impressive and the turbo performance across the board is amazing. I w...

Re: Bog / Hesitation off Idle - 65 Corsa Turbo
I had a similar throttle sticking problem with my ‘66 turbo. Turned out the throttle linkage at the bracket on the transmission was not aligned correctly and was slightly bent. Disconnect the linkage from the Carter. Pull the linkage forward and see if it still binds on the return. If so, check the ...

Re: Engine running on engine stand
I built one out of 2x6’s and put casters on it so I could roll it around. I recently updated my turbo ignition and did a video of my first start in my driveway. You can view it here: http://www.cincotek.com/Corvair/66Vair_EDIS6.mp4

Re: head gasket
I blew a head gasket on a V-Twin motorcycle I had a number of years ago. Similar kind of engine to a Vair - air cooled, aluminum block and cylinder heads.. I decided to keep riding rather then just pulling over and getting it towed. Probably went 10 or 15 miles and the engine got progressively worse...

Re: Pitman question...
If the bolt is rotating in the pitman arm... I didn’t know if that was the case. I had to press the bolt through the bushing - it didn’t just slip through. I have the castle nut torqued correctly. I was just wondering what rotated since the bolt needed the be pressed in. This was a Clark’s replacem...

Re: 65 Corsa steering box
It was pretty low when I checked it. I ended up using most of the container to top it off. I had to pump it in - thats the only way to get the oil in. A cheap oil pump from an auto parts store did the trick.

Re: Steering question...
Alec, I just went through this exact issue with my 65. The plate must be attached to the mast first, then turned clockwise to the stop. Then you can attach that assy to the housing with the 3 screws. Hope this helps. Joe The housing has to go onto the mast first, then the plate into the slots on th...

Re: Steering question...
The 3 screws screw into the directional housing. They hold everything together but don't put any significant pressure on the plate and don't lock it in place.joelsplace wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2019 12:18 pm My understanding is the 3 screws should lock it in place. Maybe your plate is bent or the tabs on the mast are bent?

Re: 65 Corsa steering box
I had a similar problem with my early '65 Corsa. I cleaned the outside of the steering box up with brake clean and filled it with Penrite Steering Box Lube - a product which claimed that it wouldn't leak. https://www.restorationstuff.com/ecommerce/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=111_112&a...

Steering question...
I have an early '65 with the 1 piece steering shaft. I have had this apart a few times since I bought the car.I have a problem with the directional housing. See '65 image below: steering.jpeg On the '65, the upper part of the steering assembly attaches to the steering mast via a plate which slides i...
